Nine individuals have been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Sokoto State for manufacturing and selling pillows stuffed with used diapers and sanitary pads, as revealed by the state’s Commandant, Bello Alkali Argungun, on December 27, 2023. The arrests were made based on intelligence gathered.

According to Argungun, these individuals engaged small children to collect the waste materials, which were then used to fill pillowcases bearing logos from reputable foam companies.

This deceitful act poses serious health risks to the unsuspecting buyers.

Argungun highlighted the potential health hazards, emphasizing that users might unknowingly contract diseases from such contaminated pillows.

He urged people to patronize legitimate businesses for their safety and well-being.

The investigation is ongoing, with plans to prosecute the suspects in court once the inquiries are completed.
